Musical Occasions has grown to become one of the premiere full service Vancouver wedding music agencies in BC because of our passion for entertainment.
We have over thirty years of experience providing music for events ranging from intimate cocktail receptions to Olympic Galas. As a family run business we are committed to making your event the success you’ve dreamed of. Our roster of classical, jazz, pop, dance and world musicians represents the best and most experienced talent Vancouver has to offer.
Jan Trerise started Musical Occasions in 1990 because she saw a need in the market for an agency that specialized in wedding and event music.
Up until this time most musical acts were representing themselves and it was hard to find a “one stop shop” that offered professional musicians of all genres. Jan was a trail blazer in our industry. Musical Occasions thrived from the time it opened, quickly becoming one of the most respected musical agencies in Canada.
Jan proudly created our “popular” music options and our Musical Occasions String Quartet and Harp, Violin and Cello trio. Musical Occasions is one of the only agencies that represents classical musicians who play current pop hits!
Morgan, Jan’s daughter, joined the company in 2012 to help the business expand to the next level. She became president of Musical Occasions when Jan stepped down to an advisor role in 2017. Since joining the team Morgan has created new ensembles like our popular guitar duo and is working daily to keep our roster exciting and current!

Morgan Shrimpton
President and Owner
With a personal music library that spans from Mozart to Metallica and everything in between, Morgan simply loves music. A graduate of the University of Victoria, Morgan also travelled the world a few years ago. Morgan’s highlights of the trip include seeing Madonna perform before 80,000 fans at an open air stadium in Spain and attending a musical performance at the Emperor’s Summer Palace in Beijing. Morgan is delighted to bring her business sensibilities to the Musical Occasions family.
Jan Trerise
Founder and Advisor
Providing music for more than 350 events annually, Jan has grown Musical Occasions from a small live music booking agency to one of the premier full service Music Agencies in British Columbia. Although the company has grown immensely, Jan believes in a one-on-one, personal approach with each client.
Jan’s background includes; managing Canada’s internationally renowned Purcell String Quartet, member of the Board of Directors for the Society of Women in Music, board member of the Pacific Music Industry Association, member of the B.C. Touring Council, CARAS (Juno Awards), and a voting member of the Canadian Music Centre.
Jan’s energy and limitless knowledge of a wide variety of musical genres are among the reasons clients come back to Musical Occasions again and again. Jan is thrilled to bring her daughter Morgan on board to help expand and refresh the company.
